The steps

1. 1At the book with the bonus bet, pick an underdog, ideally between +250 and +400. If the book caps the odds for bonus bets, stay at or under the cap; its terms say.
2. 2At your second book, find the same game and the same market, usually the moneyline, and the other team's price.
3. 3Size the cash bet, the hedge. BreadSync does it below, or use the calculator above.
4. 4Place the bonus bet first, with the bonus switched on. When it shows as accepted, place the cash bet right away.
5. 5Log both bets. Repeat for each bonus bet you have.

What a good result looks like

• 60% or more of the bonus: strong.
• 55 to 60%: good.
• 50 to 55%: worth taking.
• Under 50%: try another game, or wait a day if the bonus does not expire first.

Picking the game

The bonus amount is gone either way, so you want the bet that pays the most in winnings: the bigger plus number. Lopsided games give the biggest ones, and football and basketball usually have more of them than baseball. The cash on the other side only has to match that payout.

The moneyline is the default. Where the book allows bonus bets on them, a spread or run line at ±0.5 or ±1.5 works too: a half point cannot push. Skip whole-number spreads and totals, since a bonus bet that lands exactly on the number is a push, and some books do not give a pushed bonus bet back. Skip rows that need a huge cash bet to keep a few dollars more.

Questions

• Why the bonus bet first? It is the leg most likely to be refused, re-priced or accepted for less. If you place the cash first and the bonus bet does not go through as planned, you are left with a bet on one side only.
• If the bonus bet wins, do I get the $25 back? No, only the winnings: $25 at +300 pays $75. That is why you typically keep 55% to 70%, not 100%.
• I have bonus bets at two books. Can I bet them against each other? No. Always bonus bet against cash. Convert one book's bonus against cash at the other, then swap.
• The sportsbook offers to cash out one of my bets early. Should I? No. Leave both legs alone until the game ends.

Watch out: if the price changes before your cash bet, type the new price and recompute. Do not guess.
