Mistakes that cost money
Almost every expensive mistake happens in the minute between two bet slips. Here they are, most expensive first, each with its fix and the place BreadSync checks it for you.
A hedge only works when both bets are accepted as shown. Most lost money comes from one side going in wrong, or going in alone. A bet with nothing on the other side is just a straight bet, and it can lose in full.
At the bet slip: can cost the whole stake
- Placing the hedge before the first bet is accepted. If the bonus bet is rejected or re-priced, your cash sits on one side alone. Fix: place the bet most likely to fail first (the bonus bet, or an unusually big stake), wait for the book's accepted message, then place the hedge within seconds.
- The same team on both slips. Both bets win or lose together, so nothing is hedged. Fix: read the team, price and stake on both slips before you confirm either.
- Your stake in the “to win” box. Type $250 into “to win” on a -130 favorite and you have actually bet $325, so the pair no longer balances. Fix: tap the wager box before you type, and check it again after you press continue.
- Forgetting to switch on the bonus bet. Your real cash goes on the underdog, and you are left with an expensive cash pair instead of a conversion. Fix: switch the bonus bet on before placing, then check that your bonus balance dropped and your cash did not.
- Hedging the full amount when the book took less. Ask for a $1,000 risk-free first bet at +110, get $500 accepted, and the hedge at -120 drops from about $818 to about $409 (refund counted at about 60%). Fix: size the hedge to the accepted amount, and do not cancel the offer bet until you have checked it still qualifies.
With the numbers: costs part of the value
- Using the old hedge after a price moved. Your two outcomes stop matching. Fix: re-enter the new price and use the new stake. If the second leg moved by a point or two, place it anyway; never leave the first leg alone.
- The bonus bet on the favorite. The bonus amount never comes back, so it belongs where the winnings are biggest. A $100 bonus bet keeps about $38 on a -150 favorite (hedged at +130) and about $67 on a +300 underdog (hedged at -350). Fix: bonus bet on the underdog, cash on the favorite, and never hedge one bonus bet with another.
- Going over the book's bonus-bet odds cap. Some books cap the price a bonus bet can be used at, and reject it above that. Fix: read the cap in the offer terms and type it into “Max Odds” on the Free Bet view. The app does not set it for US books.
- A price that looks too good. A huge edge, like +1000 where every other book says -120, is a book error. The book cancels it and your other side is left alone. Fix: skip it.
- Two bets that are not the same bet. A three-way line (with a draw) against a two-way line, the other game of a doubleheader, or an alternate spread instead of the main one. Fix: before you tap, match the market name, the line and the start time to the row.

With your money: slower, but just as real
- Letting bonus bets expire. You lose their full value. Fix: convert them within a day or two of getting them.
- All your money in one book. Nothing is left anywhere else to bet the other side, so you end up adding money from your own pocket. Fix: split your deposits with the Deposit Optimizer and keep a reserve. Deposits
- An expired ID. A book can hold your withdrawal until you verify with a valid ID, and a replacement can take months. Fix: check the expiry date before your first deposit.
- Not logging the bet. By next week you will not know which book holds what, or what is still open. Fix: log both legs the minute you place them.

- 1.From an Odds Screen row, the green bookmark ("Add to Tracker") opens "Add Bet" with both legs filled.
- 2.By hand: "Add Bet" > "Hedge", pick the game in "Search Game", and fill each leg. Tick "Bonus Bet" on the bonus leg.
- 3.Check the preview panel: on a bonus-bet or low-hold pair, your result for every outcome should be close. One far off means a slip is wrong.
- 4.Click "Add hedge (2 bets)".
