Risk-Free Bets

Work any “money back if your first bet loses” offer so you end up about the same whether that first bet wins or loses.

Same offer, many names

No-sweat bet, second chance, first bet insurance, first bet reset, “up to $1,500 in bonus bets if your first bet loses”. They are one offer: you bet your own cash, and if that bet loses, the book refunds the stake as bonus bets, not cash. Some books call it a risk-free bet, which is only a product name, and BreadSync's Risk-Free Bet view is named after it.

Why both outcomes pay

Say a book refunds up to $500. You bet $500 there at +120 and hedge the other side at -130 with cash at a second book. The refund is valued at 60%, a typical conversion.

IfFirst betHedgeRefundResult
It wins+$600-$452Noneabout +$148
It loses-$500+$348$500 in bonus bets, about $300 convertedabout +$148

The losing row is the one that worries people: cash reads -$152 until you add the refund. The refund is where the profit is. About 30% of the stake is a typical result, and the Risk-Free Bet view shows it as each row's percentage. Rows from about 28% are worth taking, even though the view colors anything under 30% red.

Try it

Type your first bet and two prices. It values the refund at about 60%.

Bet $181 on the other side. If your bet wins you are up about $59; if it loses, the $200 refund converts to about the same.

Estimate, if both bets are accepted at these prices.

Pick the side

The first bet goes on the plus-money side, at or a little above even money. If a row shows a minus price at the offer book, read it again.

Longer odds raise the estimate a little, but the hedge grows fast. On a $500 bet it is $452 at +120 and $972 at +225. Staying between about +100 and +150 keeps the hedge within reach.

How much to bet

You do not have to max it. Stake anything up to the cap and the result scales: $500 into a $1,000 offer is worth about half, around $150. You need cash for both bets, the stake at the offer book and the hedge at the second book, so work the smaller offers first and come back to the $1,000-plus ones once that money is on hand.

The steps

  1. 1Opt in. Some books need you to add the offer on the bet slip before you place the bet. If you cannot see it, ask the book's live chat first.
  2. 2Find the pair and the hedge size in BreadSync, below.
  3. 3Type the hedge into the second book's slip first, to be sure it accepts that much. Do not place it yet.
  4. 4Place the first bet at the offer book. Read the amount it accepted, then place the hedge. First bet first, hedge second.
  5. 5If the first bet wins, you are done. If it loses, convert the refund the day it lands: Turn bonus bets into cash.

Watch out: if the offer book accepts less than your stake, do not cancel. Type the accepted amount into Risk-Free Stake and hedge that instead.

  3. 3.In "Books", tick the books where you hold cash, then take a top row whose hedge you can fund.

Offers split into tokens

Some books split the offer into several tokens, like five no-sweat bets of up to $50 each. Same method, once per token. Put the token's amount into Risk-Free Stake, not the offer's headline total, and use the full amount each token covers: any part you leave unused is wasted.

Watch out: check whether the refund comes as one bonus bet or several, and when it expires.
