After your first offer · Lesson 3 of 5
When the promo terms change
The same headline amount can require a different stake, hedge or next step. Read the actual reward rules first, then choose the calculation that matches them.
This is lesson 3 of After your first offer. These four scenarios are invented, not current sportsbook offers. Use them to rehearse decisions without depositing or logging practice bets.
| What you actually have | Start here |
|---|---|
| A credited stake-not-returned bonus token | Free Bet view or Free Bet Calculator; one usable token at a time. |
| A cash bet refunded in tokens only if it loses | Risk-Free Bet view or Risk Free Bet Calculator; estimate the later token conversion. |
| A percentage added to cash-bet winnings | Low Hold view with Boost %, or calculate the boosted odds before using Low Hold Calculator. |
| Cash bonus with a wagering requirement | Work out the required qualifying volume and pair costs; do not treat it as a bonus token. |
1. Two $25 tokens are not one $50 token
You have $30 cash at the hedge book. The promo allows bonus odds no higher than +150, and an eligible pair is +140 / −160. A row at +300 is irrelevant if the token cannot be used on it.
| The wallet shows | Calculated hedge | Decision before placing anything |
|---|---|---|
| Two separate $25 tokens | $21.54 for one token; about $13.46 converted. | One pair fits $30. The second needs its own available hedge cash; do not assume the first result replenishes that book. |
| One $50 token, must use in full | $43.08; about $26.92 converted. | This pair does not fit $30. Reducing the calculator input does not split an indivisible token. |

Filter by the token’s real rules, then check the cash needed for one complete conversion.
- 1.Choose “Single book” and the “Select Free Bet Book” holding the token. Set “Free Bet Size” to one usable token: 25 here, or 50 if it is indivisible.
- 2.Verify the terms and set “Max Odds” to +150 for this example. Clear “Boost %” unless this token actually includes an eligible boost.
- 3.In “Books”, select funded hedge books. Open both slips and confirm the same event, period, opposite selections and settlement rules.
- 4.Check the token is applied and the entire cash hedge is available before either leg. After acceptance, log actual odds and stakes with “Add to Tracker”.
No Pro? Open the public calculator with the $25 example. Select +100 (American odds); check USD and Boost 0 on both sides. Only Free Bet Stake changes for the $50 comparison. If the token does not fit, search eligible alternative pairs or wait before placing either bet. Do not borrow to rescue an expiring token. Full steps: convert bonus bets.
2. A refund percentage and its cash value are different
Your hypothetical $100 cash bet at +120 is fully refunded in bonus tokens if it loses. The hedge price is −130. Refund % 100 means $100 of tokens; Freebet Conversion % 60 assumes those tokens later produce $60 of cash. It does not mean the sportsbook refunds only $60.
- 1In the public Risk Free Bet Calculator, select +100 (American odds), USD and Boost 0. Set Risk Free Odds +120, Stake 100; Hedge Odds −130; Refund % 100; Freebet Conversion % 60. The hedge is about $90.43.
- 2Before placing either leg, test a lower conversion estimate supported by the token's odds cap and current eligible hedge prices. A changed estimate recalculates the proposed hedge, so recheck the cash needed.
- 3After bets are accepted, keep their actual stakes fixed. If the first bet loses, wait for the credited tokens, convert each in Free Bet, and reconcile the actual cash result instead of the earlier projection.
| Same accepted $100 / $90.43 cash stakes | Whole-offer result |
|---|---|
| First bet wins | $29.57; no refund is due. |
| First bet loses; refund not converted | About -$30.44 cash, plus $100 of tokens. Not a cash profit yet. |
| Loss, then refund converts at 60% | -$30.44 + $60 = about $29.56. |
| Loss, then refund converts at 50% | -$30.44 + $50 = about $19.56. |
The Pro Risk-Free Bet view calls the conversion assumption FB Conversion %. Use Risk-Free Stake for the eligible insured cash bet, not the future token amount. If only part of a loss is refunded, use the public calculator's separate Refund % and stay within the actual cap. See refunds split into tokens before funding the second stage.
3. Check the dollars on a 50% boost
A token boosts winnings by 50%, with a maximum $25 cash stake. At +150, normal winnings are $37.50; boosted winnings are $56.25. The resulting odds are +225, not +200 and not a 50% increase to the total payout. The stake is still your cash.
- 1In Low Hold view, select Single book, set Primary Book to the boost book, Bet Size to 25 and Boost % to 50. Use the token's eligible markets and stake cap.
- 2Without Pro, use the Low Hold Calculator: select +100 (American odds), USD, one leg per side; Side #1 Odds +225 and Stake 25, Side #2 Odds −160 with its stake unlocked so it calculates to $50.00.
- 3Apply the actual token at the sportsbook and check its boosted payout before placing. After acceptance, save the boosted odds in the tracker. Clear Boost % before searching for an ordinary pair.
If the boosted bet wins, $56.25 winnings − $50 lost hedge = $6.25. If the hedge wins, $31.25 winnings − $25 lost cash bet = $6.25. This pair uses $75 cash. Decide whether that result, cash use and work fit your plan; a small boost is neither automatically worthwhile nor automatically worthless. See profit boosts for the full workflow.
4. Convert the wagering requirement into a cost
A hypothetical $200 deposit earns a $40 cash bonus with “5x wagering.” That phrase is incomplete until you know what the 5x applies to. Assume eligible $100 cash bets count in full after settlement, paired at +100 / −110 with a $104.76 cash hedge. Each pair costs about $4.76 across both books.
| Exact requirement | Qualifying bets at bonus book | Cost and remaining bonus |
|---|---|---|
| 5x bonus only | $40 × 5 = $200; two $100 bets. | $9.52 pair costs; about $30.48 of the $40 bonus remains. |
| 5x deposit plus bonus | ($200 + $40) × 5 = $1,200; twelve $100 bets. | $57.12 pair costs; about -$17.12 net. Decline this plan at these prices. |
In the public Low Hold Calculator, select +100 (American odds) and USD. Use Side #1 Odds +100, Stake 100; Side #2 Odds −110, stake unlocked. Budget from the two dollar outcomes, not the displayed 2.38% hold multiplied by only one book's requirement. Confirm the contribution rules, deadline and withdrawal restrictions before choosing either offer. If less than the full $100 counts, this table no longer applies.
If you proceed, log only credited cash bonus as Site Credit in Bankroll, not Free Bet Bonus. Set that book's Edit → Total Rollover to the verified dollar requirement, then reconcile against its own progress counter. The rollover guide covers different release rules and the full tracking sequence.
If this book has an imported balance override, wait until its open bets have settled before saving the Edit form: saving also resets the starting point for that balance. Then reconcile its cash and rollover together using the settled-balance steps. Keep the sportsbook's current requirement in your notes while you wait.
Watch out: These results assume both legs are accepted at the shown prices with matching settlement rules, no voids, and no fees or taxes. None of the tools verifies a token's eligibility for you.

Your next action
For one actual promo, write down its reward type, usable token or cash stake, eligible odds, expiry and exact calculator inputs. If you cannot fill a field from the terms, stop and clarify it. Then continue to When something goes wrong to rehearse a moved price, a rejected leg or an uncertain receipt.
