What does minimum odds of -200 mean for a sportsbook offer?

BreadSync2 min readUpdated How we calculate

The short answer

If the terms say “-200 or longer,” the bet must pay at least as much per dollar as -200. That is decimal odds of 1.50 or greater. Prices like -150, -110, +100, and +150 meet that odds requirement; -250 and -300 do not.

Read the price by its payout

At -200, $100 cash wins $50 profit and returns $150 total. A bigger negative number has a smaller payout per dollar: -300 wins only about $33.33 on $100. That is a shorter price, not a more generous one.

Check the boundary and the accepted price

“Longer than -200” is not identical to “-200 or longer.” If the wording or displayed eligibility is unclear, ask the sportsbook whether the boundary itself counts.

Check the accepted ticket, not an earlier screen price. If you selected -190 but the bet was accepted at -210, it does not meet a -200-or-longer threshold. A calculator result does not override that restriction.

Odds are only one eligibility check

Meeting the threshold does not make a bet good value. Compare its actual qualifying cost and reward terms before committing cash.

  • Verify the cash stake, opt-in, deadline, permitted sport and market, and whether the bet must win or merely settle.
  • For a parlay, check whether the requirement applies to its combined price, each leg, or both.
  • Do not confuse a qualifying bet’s minimum odds with a bonus token’s maximum odds or payout cap.

The takeaway

Convert the threshold to decimal odds when the minus signs get confusing, then check all the other terms.
