How much does a low-hold bet actually cost?
The short answer
Subtract the payout from the total cash staked across both sides. For a hypothetical $100 bet at +100 and a $102.44 opposite bet at -105, you stake $202.44 and receive about $200 after either normal outcome. The pair costs about $2.44.
The dollars are the clearest comparison
This assumes exact opposite outcomes, matching settlement rules, and no fees. Stake rounding can leave a cent of difference. A small cost is still a loss; betting both sides does not create a reward by itself.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Side A: $100 at +100 | $200 winning payout |
| Side B: $102.44 at -105 | About $200 winning payout |
| Total cash staked | $202.44 |
| Cost of the pair | About $2.44 |

Why two hold percentages can both be correct
The $2.44 cost is about 1.20% of the $202.44 staked. The sum of the prices' implied probabilities exceeds 100% by about 1.22%. Those use different denominators.
BreadSync's Low Hold Calculator displays the implied-probability margin. Use its dollar outcome when budgeting a pair instead of multiplying an unfamiliar percentage by one stake.
What is the cost buying?
For a qualifying bet, compare this cost with the value of the reward you can actually use. For a wagering requirement, check which stake counts and which markets are eligible. The $202.44 total across two books is not automatically $202.44 of qualifying volume at either one.
Include repeated costs. Ten identical pairs would cost about $24.40. Without an eligible reward or another specific benefit, there is no reason to assume those losses will pay for themselves.
The takeaway
Budget the dollar loss across both tickets, then check what qualifying value it actually earns.
